Level up your backup plan: Figure out the real reasons you turned to substances in the first place. Know exactly what throws you off balance, whether it’s a person, a place, or a bad mood, and lock in solid ways to handle intense cravings or sketch situations. This is still the most important thing you’ll do.
Build a solid daily routine: Stick to daily habits that actually make you feel good. Surround yourself with a solid crew that has your back and lifts you up. Staying connected to church, CVI Recovery meetings, and therapy is still a major key to your success.
Keep tabs on your headspace: It is totally normal for things like anxiety and depression to feel heavier or more noticeable right now. If your mood shifts or your mind starts playing tricks on you, go talk to your therapist. The counselors on campus get the recovery process and are there just to support you. Take advantage of them, and keep using tools like therapy and mind-mapping to sort out your thoughts.
Fix your broken connections: Start putting in the work to repair friendships and family bonds that took a hit back then. Apologizing and clearing the air takes time, but it relieves a ton of emotional weight. Praying can really help you see which relationships are worth fighting for and which ones are just toxic energy you need to drop.
Find your "why:" As the cravings start to fade, finding a focus and direction becomes the real goal. Your reading assignments are designed to help you figure out what you care about and where you want to go. By now, you should have the brain space to focus on your schoolwork, grades, and your future dreams. Having a true purpose is what keeps you moving forward long-term.
