The Carpe Vitam Institute programs are 3 Year long programs that are focused on recovery from addiction, trauma, mental illness or homelessness. The focus is on rehabilitation, but it does not stop there. This is a vocational program that offers certificates and assists in degrees if desired. Because we are a vocational rehab, participants start as Freshmen, and if they finish, they graduate as Seniors. Instead of four full years, this program has been condensed to 9-month long phases. Each phase is split up into four quarters that are 10 weeks long. Each member is assigned a coach, and a therapist for support and healing. There will be educators, tutors, advisors and Pastors to assist in recovery as well. This is a voluntary program that is faith based in Evangelical Christianity. The following is agreed upon before beginning the program:
Active Participation: The understanding is that the most healing comes from aggressively pursuing and actively engaging in therapy sessions, treatment plans, and other activities designed to promote recovery.
Adherence to Treatment Plans: Adherence to the program is completely voluntary, it is expected that everyone attempts to be honest and transparent. Members agree to follow the curriculum of their assigned program, the education, meetings, as well as any prescribed treatment from therapists, including medication management. It is understood that adherence is crucial for successful rehabilitation.
Scheduled Appointments: Members agree to attend all scheduled appointments, including therapy sessions, group therapy, education courses, and Church services.
Abstinence: Members agree to abstain from all mood-altering substances, including illicit drugs, alcohol, and non-prescribed medications.
Maintaining a Sober Environment: By agreeing to participate in the programs members agree to discontinue communication with anyone that is/can be a hindrance to recovery. It is recommended to block and delete phone numbers to prevent a relapse. It is discouraged to engage in any romantic relationships with anyone struggling with addiction.
Respect for Others: Treating staff and other members with respect, maintaining confidentiality, and respecting privacy are essential. It is also expected to keep speech professional. No profanity or course/offensive language. Absolutely no bullying, violence, threats or any other form of aggression will be tolerated. Anyone that participates in abusive behavior will be discharged and removed from property immediately.
Integrity: Following the curriculum is solely for the benefit of the members. Each aspect of the program is designed for healing, growth and recovery. Members agrees to be Truthful and transparent.
Honesty: No member will falsify or tamper with drug tests. It is understood that if a test is positive for substances not prescribed, the treatment plans will be adjusted (for example, member may be asked to meet with coach more frequently). Members understand that a continuing to test positive, it could result in being discharged from the program, and immediate exit from the property.
Financial Responsibility: Review the 'Patient /Participants' Consent Form for any questions on financial responsibility. We have financial assistant programs and sponsors available.
Following Instructions: Members are responsible for understanding and following medical or educational instructions and should communicate any concerns or inability to comply with instructions to staff or their individual medical professionals.
Dress Code: When in public, members are expected to maintain a clean and respectful appearance, including good personal hygiene and grooming habits. Clothing should not be distracting or revealing. Clothing should be worn appropriately, covering underwear and skin, maintaining a neat appearance.
Faith Based: It is understood that this is an evangelical Christian based curriculum. CVI is not associated with any educational system, government agency or medical institution. We believe that full healing and growth only happen through Christ. No one is forced to convert to the beliefs taught in the program, but it is expected to follow the curriculum and be respectful of those views.
