MIND MAPPING
DESCRIPTION
Mind mapping is a visual brainstorming technique that organizes information around a single central concept, mirroring the brain's natural tendency for associative thinking.
In therapy, mind mapping is a visual tool used to bring clarity to complex emotions. It can identify triggers and map out paths to recovery or bring understanding to the emotions. It allows people to move away from overwhelming thoughts and emotions and learn what is really at the root of what is being experienced. By placing a core issue, like "Anxiety" or "Guilt”, in the center and branching out into subtopics like specific triggers or coping mechanisms, people can gain objective comprehension and a clearer sense of control.
To create a mind map, start by placing your main thought or an emotion in the center of a blank page. From this core, draw branches radiating outward to represent major subtopics or categories. You can then add secondary branches to include more specific details, examples, or ideas. For the greatest effectiveness, use single keywords instead of sentences to keep the map easy to read and flexible.
