Welcome to Level 1. This first 9-month stretch is going to stretch you, but it is the foundation for everything else. Here is exactly what we are focusing on together:
Detox & Reset: The first few weeks can be a physical and mental rollercoaster as your body clears out toxins. You don’t have to just "tough it out." You will meet with a doctor and a psychiatrist to see if certain medications, vitamins, or supplements can help ease the cravings and crash. Check out the vitamin list in your packet, and let's talk about what works for you.
Learning to Live Clean: Your brain needs time to rewire, which means your moods might jump all over the place, and even simple things might feel stressful at first. The fastest way through this is getting backup. We want you connected with a therapist ASAP. The campus therapists specialize in addiction and the specific stuff guys deal with.
Building Your Crew: Isolation is the enemy. To beat cravings, you need positive people in your corner. Every single day should include some kind of connection, whether that’s hitting a youth group/church, going to an CVI Recovery meeting, or just checking in with your coach or pastor.
Owning Your Routine: You will be writing out your own daily schedule until these healthy choices just become automatic habits. We put some examples in your packet to help you start, but you are the boss of your day. Focusing on self-care and setting boundaries with old friends is your starting line.
Riding the Emotional Wave: Expect an emotional rollercoaster. You might have days where you feel absolutely amazing (we call this the "pink cloud"), followed by days where you feel angry, anxious, or down. It’s all part of the healing process.
Spotting Your Triggers: Long-term success means learning what sparks your cravings and avoiding those situations. We will work on solid coping skills so you know exactly what to do when things get heavy.
Expectations and Goals:
Our only expectation is that you give this 100% and don't quit. No one is asking you to be perfect. If you are doing even a little bit better today than you were yesterday, you are winning. The goal is simple, take it one day at a time. Every day will throw random challenges at you, but you just have to keep moving forward. The toughest part of the first three months (the first phase) is sticking to a new routine. The secret is staying busy and staying focused. If you get stuck, confused, or just need to talk, reach out to your coach anytime, for anything. We've got your back.
